Donald E. Straley

Straley-Donald-obitDonald E. Straley, our beloved father, went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2014.
He was born January 27, 1932 to William Hobart and Hazel (Zettle) Straley in North Baltimore.
He attended North Baltimore public school during his grade school years from 1937-1942 and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1949.
He joined the Air Force during the Korean War on April 10, 1951 and served until April 10, 1955. He was an Air Craft and Engine (A&E) mechanic and a Jet Engine Specialist. He served in Germany with the 1st Pilotless Bomber Squadron as part of the Occupational Force in Germany and as part of the NATO Forces during the Cold War.
He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Anne Leaf, on October 18, 1952.
He farmed in the North Baltimore area until 1969 and worked at Cooper Tire and Rubber Company for 34 years retiring in the spring of 1993.

Burkhart-ViolaViola Burkhart, 86, of Fostoria, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at Toledo Hospital.
She was born February 9, 1928 in Public, Kentucky to the late Willis and Lona (Raney) Whitaker. She married Christopher Sweet in Somerset, Kentucky, and they divorced in 1958. Viola later married Victor Burkhart, and they later divorced.
Left to cherish Viola's memory are her two children, John Sweet and Mary (Don) Schroeder, both of Fostoria; 16 grandchildren, Roy (Jenny) Carnahan, LaLonnie Sweet and LeAmanda Blair, all of Fostoria, Patrick Blair, Traci (Aaron) Hoeph, LeAnda Hoepf and Michelle Schafer, all of Carey, Donald (Liz) Schroeder of Plano, IL, John (Cheryl) Carnahan of Bradner, Luke Carnahan of North Baltimore, Victoria Whitaker and Christine Whitaker. both of Bowling Green, Sherry (Jessie) Rodriguez of Plant City, FL, Chip (Jean) Beck of Noblesville, IN, Chad Beck of Fort Campbell, KY and Corey (Kathy) Beck of San Antonio, TX; 35 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Whitaker, Somerset, KY.

Charles F. "Hutch" Hutchings, age 84, passed away May 18, 2014 at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont, Ohio following a brief illness.
He was born in 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Charles F. Hutchings, Sr. and Eleanor J. Hutchings.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Elise "Trudy" (Truesdall); sons Charles "Chip" Hutchings of Bowling Green, Ohio and John (Nancy) of Powell, Ohio. He is survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1947, second in his class of 180 students. He earned a B.A. in Cartography from Kent State University in 1952, where he helped co-found the Sigma Delta fraternity (now Sigma Alpha Epsilon).
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, from January of 1953 to December of 1954, serving in the Medical Corps.

She was born on December 20, 1951 to William and Mildred (Baumbarger) Heller.
Jan was employed by Carruth Studio, Inc. for 21 years. She began by working in customer service for three years and then worked as the bookkeeping/accounting department manager.
Jan's favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends. She also loved to travel.
She is survived by the love of her life, David Fritz; her loving children: Jennifer Olejniczak (Michael DeVries) of Napoleon, Ohio and Justin Fritz of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Robert-GoffRobert L. Goff, age 83, of Bradner, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday (May 25, 2014) at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio.
He was born on May 16, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to his parents, Harold D. and Estella E. (Thaxton) Goff. Bob married Nora L. Norris on November 8, 1953 in Findlay, Ohio.
Surviving Bob are his loving wife of 60 years, Nora; daughter, Diana S. (Stanley McCaulley) Rumschlag of Risingsun, Ohio; grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Maynard of Fostoria, Ohio, Eric (Yuanyuan) Maynard of Laurel, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Estella, and his son, Gary Allyn Goff.
Bob was a 1949 graduate of Risingsun High School, and then served his country proudly in the Army during the Korean War.
He retired from the formerly known Autolite/Bendix, now currently known as Honeywell, where he worked for many years.

Kevin was born in Spring Valley, Illinois to Thomas and Joan (Siemann) Frasor. He married the love of his life Maureen McKinney on March 17, 2007 at St. Bonaventure in Florida and she survives in Bowling Green.
Also surviving Kevin are his two sons: Conner and Casey; his mother, Joan Frasor of Cooper City, Florida; brothers: Christopher (Kayde) Frasor of Bowling Green, Thomas (Laura) Frasor Jr. of Denver, Colorado; sisters: Mary Catherine (Charles) Mourning of Savannah, Georgia and Anne (Scott) Schlesinger of Golden Beach Florida; father and mother-in-law: George and Frances McKinney of Bowling Green and his beloved dog Bun-Bun.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Frasor Sr. and his brother-in-law Michael McKinney.

Michael was born in Peoria, Illinois to George and Frances (Ferry) McKinney and they survive in Bowling Green.
Michael is also survived by his sister, Maureen Frasor of Bowling Green; brothers: Scott (Nichole) McKinney of Long Beach, California and Jeff (Seth Davis) McKinney of East Chatham, New York.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Kevin Frasor.
Michael was a loving son, brother and friend. He was especially devoted to his two nephews Conner and Casey whom he loved dearly.
Michael was a gifted artist and talented young man with a huge heart and a bright future.

Robert Muir Shinew

Robert Muir Shinew, 91, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
He was born on November 8, 1922 in Portage, Ohio to Lester and Zora (Muir) Shinew. He married Esther Bowen on April 14, 1946 and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2004.
Bob was a retired post office clerk, rural mail carrier and farmer. He was co-owner of Shinew's Restaurant in Portage.
He served in the United States Army in World War II. He was a Sergeant in the 1st bomb squadron, 9th bomb group and 20th Air Force.
He attended First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. Bob was a past commander of the American Legion Post 725 in Portage and a member of the Highway Patrol Auxiliary.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Barbara Lee (Jones) Pachuta

Barbara Lee Pachuta gracefully passed from this earth on May 21, 2014 into the embrace of her beloved husband Albert Andrew Pachuta, who preceded her in death.
Barbara was born in Evanston, Illinois on January 29, 1931.
She participated in many clubs throughout her life. She was an active member of Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, a devoted foster parent, a gallery owner, and a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of children: Mark (Linda) Pachuta of Sunman, Indiana, Chris (Dan) Nitzsche of Cygnet, Ohio, Vicki Pachuta of Shelbyville, Indiana, and Scott Pachuta of Hastings, Michigan. Nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren continue the legacy. She also leaves behind a brother, Bradley (Cheryl) Jones of Silver Lake, Ohio.

William "Bill" Hallberg

William "Bill" Hallberg, author of several books and longtime professor of English at East Carolina University, died of cancer on May 23 in his home in Asheville, NC. He was 67.
His novel, "The Rub of the Green," concerned golf and was published by Doubleday in 1988. The New York Times Book Review called it "a story to be enjoyed by non-golfers and savored by those who love the game." A memoir, "The Soul of Golf," followed in 1997. He also edited "Perfect Lies," an anthology of golf stories by John Updike, Walker Percy, and others.
Hallberg was born on January 20, 1947, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University of Ohio in 1969. He subsequently earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Bowling Green State University.

Ricketts-MarvinMarvin K. Ricketts, 72, of Findlay passed away at 5:19 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on October 11, 1941, to the late Denton T. and Phyllis (Cook) Ricketts in Hicksville, OH. He married Patricia L. Stefanka on November 26, 1966, and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter: Trisha (Michael) Schulz of Lebanon, OH; two grandchildren: Justin M. and Katelyn E. Schulz; sister: Marilyn (Richard) Schweitzer of Findlay; brother-in-law: John (Helen) Stefanka of Rawson; and by several nieces and nephews.
Marvin was a 1959 graduate of Findlay High School and a 1963 graduate of Findlay College.
He was a former teacher at various Hancock County schools and last worked at Ball Metal Corp.

He was born February 26, 1948 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Paul and Mary Ellen (Bressler) Rothenbuhler. He married Pamela York on September 18, 1993 and she survives in Jerry City.
Larry worked for Public Works in Bowling Green.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 0539. He enjoyed antique tractor shows, camping and golf carting.
Larry was in the United States Navy from 1968-1972 and proudly served in Vietnam.
He was a family man and his greatest joy came from family outings and attending his grandchildren's events.

She was born on August 12, 1919, in North Baltimore to the late Charles and Anna (Leinweber) McGarvey. She married Earl "Deke" Vanaman in Biloxi, MS on September 19, 1942, and he preceded her in death on November 28, 1983.
Lois is survived by her son, Edward (Renee) Vanaman of North Baltimore; her daughter, Janet Holloway of Cygnet; her grandchildren, Brittany Vanaman and Suzanne (Bill) Bucher; her great-granddaughter, Jordan Bucher; her brother, Charles McGarvey Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; and her sister, Kathryn (George) Foltz of Ann Arbor, MI.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald and Taylor McGarvey; and her son-in-law, William Holloway.
Lois was a homemaker.

Keith W. Harris, 88, of North Baltimore, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Bowling Green Manor, Bowling Green.
He was born on February 4, 1926, in Hancock County to the late Everett and Nellie (Burkey) Harris. He married Marvelle J. Parsons on June 7, 1948, and she survives.
Keith is also survived by his son, Jay Harris of North Baltimore; his three grandchildren, Erika Harris, Jacob Harris and Sarah (Kyle) Ellenburg and his daughter-in-law, Vicki Harris.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Harris; his brother, Kenneth D. Harris; and his sister, Frances Franz.
Keith retired as the High School Principal of Crooksville High School.

She was born August 18, 1939 in Risingsun to the late Emit C. and Aouieda R. (Burns) Jennings. She married her loving husband of 56 years, Earl L. Perkey, June 14, 1958 at Bradner Lutheran Church, and he survives her in Fostoria.
Also cherishing Annie's memory are her sons, Mark A. (Mary) Perkey, of Fostoria, and Jeffery L. (Candy) Perkey, of Spring Grove, IL.; and a daughter, Lori A. Cassidy, of Findlay; grandchildren, Amanda (Thad) Ver-Wey, Elizabeth Perkey, BreAnn (Jake) Titus, and Jordan Cassidy (Logan Benjamin); great-grandchildren, Avery, Allison, and Reid Ver-Wey; sisters, Karis (Ken) Earl, of Toledo, Darlene Jennings, of Fostoria, Jo (Raul) Ascunce, of Bowling Green; brothers, Everett (Diane) Jennings, of Maumee, Cal (Linda) Jennings, of Sydney, Ohio, and Tom (Judy) Jennings, of Toledo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved pets, Duke and Winston.

Rick-LeimgruberOn May 29th, 2014, Rick Leimgruber passed on at the age of 61 surrounded by family and friends. His favorite AC/DC and Joe Walsh tunes played softly on the radio.
He was a loving husband, a hero to his children, and a friend to all who met him.
Born in Bowling Green, Ohio to Noni and Bernie Leimgruber, Rick joined the Navy before marrying Sherry Murphy and having two children, Dustin and Kristin.
Widowed in 1990, Rick eventually met and fell head over heels for Deborah Zerpoli. They married in 1992, and merged their families to include Deb's daughter, Meghann Frigge.
Rick was a master storyteller in the great Leimgruber family tradition. No one could tell a better fish tale.
Quick to flash his mischievous smile, he demonstrated that the best defense against adversity is a healthy sense of humor.
